Plastic Surgery for Men
Dr. Ghaderi is pleased to offer plastic surgery for men at his Greater Chicago area practice. Gynecomastia, a condition that leads to an over-developed breast area, is one of the most common problem he treats for his male patients.
In addition to male breast reduction surgery, he offers a variety of procedures to help control or minimize the effects of aging in men, including liposuction, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), and BOTOX® treatment.
Male Plastic Surgery Procedures
Gynecomastia is the medical term that describes the presence of excess breast tissue in men. This condition is rarely talked about, but is actually quite common, affecting about 40 to 60 percent of men. Certain medical problems and drugs have been linked to male breast over-development, but there is no known cause for the vast majority of gynecomastia cases.
For those men who feel particularly self-conscious about gynecomastia, a plastic surgery procedure for men called male breast reduction surgery is available. This surgical procedure is performed to remove fat and/or glandular tissue from one or both breasts. In extreme cases, excess skin can be removed as well. The result is a flatter chest with an improved contour.
MALE LIPOSUCTION
In addition to male breast reduction, we offer liposuction for other areas of the male body. Liposuction is an effective way to reduce accumulations of fat that build up naturally over time. For men, the most common problem areas include the abdomen, “love handles,” neckline, and chest area. These parts of the body tend to be particularly resistant to exercise and dieting as people age.
Men who want to re-contour their body to eliminate bulges can undergo liposuction treatment at our practice. During the procedure, Dr. Ghaderi uses a special suction device to permanently remove excess fatty tissue from the area below the skin. Once the surgery is complete, the treated area will appear flatter and more in proportion to the rest of the body.
MALE ABDOMINOPLASTY (TUMMY TUCK)
There are several things that may cause abdominal muscles and skin to become stretched out or slack. An abdominoplasty, can resolve this problem, providing a smoother, tighter abdomen and a slimmer-looking physique. Dr. Ghaderi is able to tighten loose abdominal muscles and remove excess skin from the area to reduce the appearance of a protruding or sagging belly.
This procedure is best performed on men who are within a healthy weight range and have good skin elasticity. It is often helpful for men who have recently lost a significant amount of weight and can be performed in combination with a body lift or other procedures.
MALE BODY LIFT
For a man who has recently succeeded in losing a significant amount of weight, there is little that is more disappointing than having an unflattering excess of skin. Loose, sagging skin detracts from the appearance of a trimmer, healthier body and hides your new body shape.
Fortunately, Dr. Ghaderi is able to remove extra skin and improve your contour by performing a procedure known as a body lift. During surgery, he will smooth and tighten your skin and surgically remove the excess, revealing the slimmer physique beneath. The best candidates for this procedure have healthy skin with good elasticity.
MALE EYELID SURGERY
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, can help men whose drooping eyes make them look more tired or less alert than they feel. During the procedure, the excess skin that produces sagging or droopy eyelids is surgically removed, along with much of the excess fatty tissue responsible for bags below the eyes.
Because the eyes have such a significant impact on the rest of a person’s appearance, blepharoplasty can give men a fresher expression overall, making them seem more vigorous and alert. Blepharoplasty surgery lasts roughly one to two hours, and is followed by a relatively short recovery period. Men usually are able to resume their normal routine without discomfort within a week after surgery.
BOTOX® COSMETIC
For men who would like to look younger without undergoing cosmetic surgery, BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment can be an attractive solution. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections smooth out wrinkles and lines on the face by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that produce them. Three to five days after treatment, “crows’ feet” around the eyes, frown lines, and other deep creases on the forehead begin to fade or disappear.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a great option for many men because it costs less than surgery and requires no downtime. Although the results of BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are not permanent, men can expect to retain a younger appearance for roughly four months following treatment.
BOTOX® to Reduce Excessive Sweating
In addition to removing wrinkles and facial creases, BOTOX® has proven effective in controlling excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis. When injected into problem areas like the armpits, BOTOX® blocks stimulation of the sweat glands, resulting in a potentially dramatic reduction in the amount of sweat produced.
